Arctic Circle China Forum Will take place in shanghai

The Arctic Circle is the largest network of international dialogue and cooperation on the future of the Arctic. It is an open democratic platform with participation from governments, organizations, corporations, universities, think tanks, environmental associations, indigenous communities, concerned citizens, and others interested in the development of the Arctic and its consequences for the future of the globe.

Approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China and hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Arctic Circle China Forum will take place in Shanghai on May 10 – 11, 2019, with the theme of “Polar Silk Road - Governance - Science - Transport - Energy”. The Forum is convened by Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC), Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), Arctic Circle Secretariat, and China Oceanic Development Foundation. The location of the venue is Shanghai Science & Technology Museum in the Pudong area of Shanghai, near Century Park and the Shanghai Pudong People’s Government.

Associated with UArcitic and Tongji University, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) will chair the session of “Polar Education Cooperation”. Professor LI Yifan, one of the three conveners of the session, will give a presentation entitled “UArctic-HIT Training Centre and Arctic education in China” on behalf of UArctic-HIT Training Centre and Polar Academy HIT. Professors and students from invited 25 Chinese universities, several invited high school students from Shanghai will attend the Session.
